FAQ
1. How can I know the phone number of my prepaid SIM?
After inserting your SIM into the mobile phone to activate service, you will receive an activation SMS stating your mobile number.

2. Do I need to register when using SIM World prepaid SIM?
All SIM card users are required to register the SIM cards for activation in Hong Kong. If your prepaid SIM is solely used overseas for travel data and voice services, real-name registration is not required. However, we suggest customers to complete real-name registration to facilitate the use in covered destinations around the world. Click here for registration guide and details.

3. Can a mobile number / SIM card be registered more than once?
No real-name registration limit is applied. Customers can cancel real-name registration at any time and register again later (not necessary to use the same identity document). At each telecommunication operator, a personal user can register up to 10 prepaid SIM cards; a company/corporate user can register up to 25 prepaid SIM cards. Customers are required to register again upon change of SIM card (e.g. lost SIM replacement / changed to eSIM), except changing mobile number.

4. Why is there "This call is made from a new prepaid SIM card" voice alert when others pick up my call?
If you use a newly activated prepaid SIM to make a local call, according to The Office of the Communications Authority (OFCA), "This call is made from a new prepaid SIM card" voice alert will be played to call receivers before a call connection, to raise customers' awareness of suspicious calls. Click here for details on OFCA’s website.

5. How can I choose to receive one-time password using SMS / email?
Log in your account, in Setting > Account Setting > "Default Login Method", you can select to receive one-time password via SMS or email.

6. Is Wi-Fi share / Hotspot Sharing supported?
Yes. It is not restricted to use Wi-Fi share / Hotspot Sharing with SIM World to share data with other devices. However, customers should carefully consider the security risks before enabling hotspot sharing. Hotspot sharing may expose customer accounts to unauthorised access due to IP-based auto-login (including your prepaid account), which allows devices sharing the same network IP to access services without a password or verification. Customers are responsible for securing their network and taking precautions to prevent misuse.
